My John Birch self

baby
Maybe I'm not a member, but myself in Des Moines is liked by the Iowa John Birch Society, who posted my remarks on their page:

Actually except for the wrongheaded snark about the seventh century (see the wonderful post about Bucky Fuller and the King of Afghanistan attached to the recent Buckyballs post)  I would agree with myself.

Note that there's a link on the page showing you how to join the John Birch Society yourself.  Founded in my sorta home state of Indiana, in a room at the Claypool Hotel in Indianapolis.

Left and right can be weird that way. I'd agree with both of your selves as well.

I have a photocopied article buried in old research somewhere (possibly VERY old research, as I'd done a high school paper on the JBS and it might have been for that) that addressed what the author nicknamed "K-bump," which is where the far left and far right converge on the same belief. Named for Kissinger, I think.

New Confessions arrived today. Psyched! I'll have to ask Boyd eventually if he was familiar with Crisp.

I note that's published in the entertainment section !!!
The members of the John Birch society have more in common with the natives of Afghanistan that they care to admit. Strong religious beliefs, an enthusiasm for gun ownership, a dislike for communism, right wing politics and an inability to compete with the Harvard debating society. It also sounds like one of those conversations you would overhear in the colonial club in Bombay at the height of the British empire about how the natives would be lost without us.
